The Beatles is one of the most famous, popular and financially successful bands in the history of music. The band formed in 1960 in Liverpool. From 1962 the group members were:
- John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals)
- Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals)
- George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals)
- Ringo Starr (drums, vocals)
The Beatles started their live scene career in Liverpool and often traveled to Hamburg, Germany.
In 1963 the popularity of the Beatles exploded. The years between 1963 and 1966 are known as the Beatlemania.
One of their first successful albums was “Please Please Me” and you can watch a record of their live performance below:
After this period followed a massive slowdown and the group stopped their touring history and concentrated on the studio work, releasing multiple successful albums.
When their manager, Brian Epstein, died in 1967 the group started slowly to disintegrate. Although they were still producing lots of albums of high quality, they began to grow apart both personally and musically. In the 1970 the group officially announced the split, and each member pursuit their own solo musical career.
The influence of the Beatles is still being felt these days. It is estimated that there are around one billion of records sold, and the sales still continue. They are included in the UK national curriculum.
